About Us

At SILSDA, we are dedicated to fostering collaboration between Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) providers.

Our mission is to create a dynamic and inclusive platform that empowers members to connect, stay informed, and continuously enhance their understanding of the sector.

Through this collaboration, we aim to strengthen the quality and delivery of services, ultimately improving the lives of participants across Australia.

Why SILSDA Was Established:
The vision for SILSDA was born from the recognition of a pressing need within the SIL and SDA sectors.

Providers in both fields face unique challenges, yet their services are deeply intertwined.

SIL providers focus on daily support and promoting independence for participants, while SDA providers create the living environments that enable these supports. The lack of structured collaboration between these two sectors has led to gaps in service delivery, inefficiencies, and missed opportunities to better serve participants.

We established SILSDA to bridge these gaps by facilitating collaboration, sharing expertise, and exchanging best practices between SIL and SDA providers.

By working together, we ensure that participants not only have access to high-quality living environments but also receive the support they need to thrive within them.

This collaboration also creates a unified approach to navigating regulatory changes, funding models, and industry trends, providing members with the knowledge and resources to adapt and succeed.

What We Offer:
SILSDA provides its members with a range of opportunities to connect, learn, and grow, including:

  • Regular networking events, workshops, seminars, and conferences held nationwide to promote ongoing engagement and education.

  • Platforms to share experiences and collaborate on innovative solutions to common challenges.

  • Up-to-date information on sector developments, including policy changes, new regulatory frameworks, and funding opportunities.

  • A national network designed to meet the specific needs of SIL and SDA providers, enabling them to better serve participants.

Our Approach:
At SILSDA, we are not consultants. Our role is not to impose obligations or request reviews.

Instead, we offer an open, collaborative environment where feedback is welcomed but never forced.

We believe in creating a space where members can engage at their own pace, without external pressures. Our goal is to build trust and foster collaboration that benefits the entire sector.

Our Partners and Team:
SILSDA’s partners include NDISDA, SDA Conferences and Events, and NDISLINK Events and Conferences—all founded and led by our Managing Director, Lynn Gabriel.

With a national presence and advisory board members across four states, we ensure that the needs of SIL and SDA providers throughout Australia are met.

Our dedicated team supports SIL and SDA providers by helping them navigate the complexities of the sector and enhancing their ability to deliver exceptional services to participants.

Through SILSDA, we are committed to creating lasting change and improving the lives of people with disabilities.

We believe in the power of support, collaboration, and empowerment.

At SILSDA, we are committed to enabling individuals to embrace their independence, define their future, and make a positive impact on the community.
